How to Protect Yourself from Password Stealers and Internet Fraud

1. The Password Crime

The theft of passwords and internet fraud is a crime. Who gains unauthorised access or helps to gain access to protected Passwords is committing a crime!

§ 202a StGB - Legal rights against the spy on Passwords

Who gets unauthorized to data which are not determined for him and are especially protected against unauthorised access or makes access possible to others, will be punished with imprisonment up to three years or with fines.

In case you become victims of such crime, announce it immediately to the next police station or to the government department against Internet deception and computer hacker.

2. Secure Password

Passwords can be stolen by computer programs easily. How this can this be avoid:

  1. For a secure password it is important that a password contains as many as possibly signs. Signs should not only be letters, a password should exist always of letter and numbers!
  2. The password should be changed regularly.

  1. Open "Saved Passwords": here all saved passwords are displayed readable
  2. To delete saved passwords, click on "Delete all".

Delete Private Data (visited sites, cookies etc…):

  1. Click on Settings to check the setting for Passwords
  2. To delete all private data click on "Delete now".
  3. To delete private data as soon as Firefox is closed, markt he option "Delete privat data as soon as Firefox is closed"

3.2. Internet-Browser: INTERNET EXPLORER

  1. To delete Passwords click on the button: "Delete Paswords"
  2. To avoid someone can see which web pages you have visited or is spying on your data, click on: "Delete all"

4. How Passwords are stolen?

Even settings in the Internet browser protect passwords, passwords are spied out. Different computer programs make it easy for criminals to spy on passwords. Even if passwords are stored coded, it is possible to decrypt passwords with programs like „Password decoder XP“. Therefore it is necessary to pay attention to whom you give your private data i.e. your email address.
